Our ships are like small towns, equipped with just about everything you need. Living amongst an international community is an experience like none other.
Life on Board
Our ships are like small towns. Not only is there a hospital, but there is also so much more! There is a laundry room, café, crew clinic, hair salon, bank and gym. You’ll find a Ship Shop with some toiletries, simple groceries and snacks. You can cook or bake in the crew galley and we even have a pool! There is also a K-12 school for children who come with their parents to serve.
After work, community activities of all kinds, organized largely by the Crew themselves, provide a way to relax. The specific activities differ according to the unique skills and interests of the volunteers on board. This may include sports, crafting groups, karaoke nights, dancing, cooking, storytelling, games, and movies. Crew also join Bible studies, community groups and service projects in the country where we are serving on days off. Ship life is all about community!”
Safety & Security
The safety and security of our crew is of utmost importance. Our security teams, both on and off ship, work around the clock to ensure the safety of our crew.
Meals
Our amazing Food Services Team makes and serves meals in our Dining Room three times a day and twice on weekends (with lunch offerings available to collect at breakfast). While some food is shipped from Europe, we buy most fresh ingredients locally
*We cannot guarantee availability of certain foods to cater to specific diets. Crew are able to prepare their own meals in the Crew Galley when desired.
Accommodation
Housing is one of our biggest organizational challenges on board, but we try to utilize this fixed resource to the best of our ability. Cabin assignments are based on the crewmember’s position and length of commitment and cannot be changed.
Africa Mercy
- Families receive a 4- or 6-berth cabin with a kitchenette.
- Couples receive a cabin with a double bed and kitchenette.
- Single crew receive a multi-berth cabin – some of which contain bunk beds. Some positions provide for a single-berth cabin, depending on commitment length. *Please note we cannot guarantee bottom bunk requests
Global Mercy
- Families receive a 6-berth cabin with a kitchenette.
- Couples receive a cabin with a double bed and kitchenette.
- Single crew receive a two-berth cabin with elevated beds for storage underneath. Some roles provide for a single-berth cabin, depending on service length.
